Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Corrections Officer to join our team at Yankton County. As a key member of our correctional staff, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our inmates and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records related to the legal process involving the jail.
  • Conduct thorough searches and screenings of inmates, including fingerprinting and photographing.
  • Issue and launder jail clothing, bedding, and hygiene items to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
  • Conduct regular checks on inmates to ensure their well-being and detect any potential risks or conflicts.
  • Assist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals, as well as perform cleaning and minor maintenance duties.
  • Document all incidents and complete necessary reports in a detailed and factual manner.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
