Job Summary

Helio Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our Mobile Crisis Program. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in recovery, helping them regain independence in their communities, and sustaining their own recovery and overall health.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Collaborating with individuals to develop a person-centered recovery plan.
  • Linking patients to social and other support services in the community.
  • Teaching individuals and family members coping skills.
  • Supporting the application process for benefits.
  • Providing non-clinical crisis support after periods of hospitalization or incarceration.
  • Accompanying individuals to court appearances and medical appointments.
  • Engaging individuals with formal recovery support services.
  • Educating individuals and family members on various modes of recovery.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Graduate or Equivalency.
  • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or OMH Peer Certification within six (6) months of hire and must maintain certification throughout employment.
  • One year of Health or Human Service experience preferred.
  • An individual does not need to be in recovery themselves but must be able to confer empathy through lived experiences such as family and/or close friends.
  • A valid NYS Driver's License.
