Low-Voltage Systems Technician

The Low-Voltage Systems Technician will play a crucial role in the installation, upkeep, and design of low-voltage systems across various Power Design locations. This position will act as the primary technician for low-voltage technology, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all users interacting with Smart Campus solutions. This is a mid-level to advanced role.
Key Responsibilities...
- Consistently represents Power Design and the IT division with professionalism.
- Serves as the main installer and technician across all Power Design locations.
- Communicates effectively with clients and team members, regardless of their technological expertise.
- Demonstrates the ability to make informed technical decisions quickly.
- Acts as the initial point of contact for management during special initiatives.
- Handles the termination of Cat6, speaker wire, and other low-voltage cabling for various hardware setups.
- Creates comprehensive documentation and schematics for all installations, including user guides.
- Configures devices under the guidance of system programmers.
- Interprets and annotates architectural blueprints as needed.
- Identifies technical issues and proactively proposes and implements solutions.
- Participates in seminars and training sessions on emerging technologies relevant to Smart Campus initiatives.
- Performs additional duties related to campus technology as assigned.
- At least 4 years of experience in AV and low-voltage installation in residential or commercial settings.
- Proficiency with Crestron products and software is essential.
- Experience with medium to large-scale AV matrixes and systems is required.
- Advanced skills in low-voltage installation and cable management, with the ability to devise innovative solutions on the spot.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills involving both software and hardware.
- In-depth understanding of low-voltage signal flow.
- Extensive experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Proficient in using cable testers, toners, and multimeters.
- Intermediate knowledge of PCs, networking, and IP security cameras.
- Basic understanding of automated lighting, shading, door access, and cloud-based device management platforms.
- Must be capable of lifting 50lbs with assistance.
- Comfortable working safely on ladders and man-lifts.
- Familiarity with commercial conferencing systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Dante implementations is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams software is beneficial.
- Familiarity with DSPs and advanced audio processing hardware is a plus.
- Experience with terminating fiber optic cabling is an advantage.
