About the Role...

The Low-Voltage Systems Specialist will play a crucial role in the installation, upkeep, and design of low-voltage systems across various locations. Acting as the primary technician for the campus, this position is vital in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all users interacting with Smart Campus technology. This is a mid-level role requiring significant expertise.

Key Responsibilities...
  • Consistently represent Power Design and the IT department with professionalism.
  • Serve as the lead installer and technician for all designated locations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members, regardless of their technical proficiency.
  • Make informed and confident technical decisions in real-time.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for management during special projects.
  • Terminate Cat6, speaker wire, and other low-voltage cabling across diverse hardware setups.
  • Create comprehensive documentation and schematics for all installations, including user guides.
  • Configure devices under the guidance of system programmers.
  • Interpret and annotate architectural blueprints as needed.
  • Identify technical issues and proactively propose and implement solutions.
  • Participate in seminars and training sessions related to current and future Smart Campus technologies.
  • Perform additional duties related to campus technology as assigned.
Qualifications...
  • At least 4 years of experience in residential or commercial AV and low-voltage installation.
  • Proficiency with Crestron products and software is essential.
  • Experience with medium to large-scale AV matrixes and systems is required.
  • Advanced skills in low-voltage installation and cable management, with the ability to devise creative solutions on the spot.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills involving both software and hardware.
  • In-depth understanding of low-voltage signal flow.
  • Extensive experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Proficient in using cable testers, toners, and multimeters.
  • Intermediate knowledge of PCs, networking, and IP security cameras.
  • Basic understanding of automated lighting, shading, door access, and cloud-based device management platforms.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with assistance from colleagues.
  • Comfortable working safely on ladders and man-lifts.
  • Familiarity with commercial conferencing systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Dante implementations is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams software is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with DSPs and advanced audio processing hardware is a plus.
  • Experience terminating fiber optic cabling is advantageous.
