Job Summary

The County of Oconee is seeking a skilled Mechanic I to join our team. As a Mechanic I, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of County-owned vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance duties, including oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop.
  • Provide emergency field assistance as needed.
  • Operate heavy equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct road tests to ensure vehicles are mechanically safe and function properly.
  • Review work orders to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain records of work completed and parts.
  • Attend training classes and workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with ordering parts and supplies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of related experience required.
  • CDL Driver's license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Annual blood-borne pathogen classes.
  • ASE certification or equivalent.
Working Conditions

The Mechanic I will work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to lift up to 100 pounds.
