About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Design Group, a leading provider of system integration and automation solutions. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for our clients in the food, beverage, and life science industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement control systems for automated processes and system integration
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements
  • Program PLCs (Rockwell) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware)
  • Participate in various automation project phases, including installation, checkout, and start-up
  • Mentor and share knowledge with other controls engineers
  • Troubleshoot control systems
  • Assume accountability for project execution, including team leadership, project scope, quality of deliverables, budget, and schedule
Requirements
  • A minimum of eight years of direct experience as a controls engineer working on automated processes/system integration in a food, beverage, consumer health product, or other industrial manufacturing environment
  • A track record of proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and working in high-intensity environments
  • Experience in managing capital expenditure projects, including setting schedule, budget, change controls, commissioning, and startup of capital equipment, managing subcontractors, and junior engineers
  • Experience in the design and implementation of control system architectures (PLC, HMI, industrial networks, and related automation hardware/software)
  • A solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A)
  • Engineering consulting experience (preferred)
  • The ability to successfully interact with clients
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start-up activities, client and company-sponsored meetings, trainings, industry-related seminars, forums, and conventions
  • A Bachelor of Science in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a related degree (preferred)
