Job Title: Grassroots Engagement Director

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grassroots Engagement Director to join our team in Michigan. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for identifying, recruiting, and engaging everyday folks to join with others to take action and drive policy reforms that open opportunities for all.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify and recruit activists in various parts of the state who are currently or could become leaders in their local communities, as elected officials or citizen organizers, and motivate them to advocate for change.
  • Work to equip these local leaders to advocate for changes that are consistent with principles our organization believes in, by connecting them to training and other resources.
  • Organize events where you and other activists can engage the public through phone calls, social media, and walking through neighborhoods to talk with people face-to-face.
  • Ensure that our organization stays in regular contact with our activists to keep them motivated, educated, and active.
Requirements:
  • Care about people and are able to build relationships quickly with people from all walks of life and understand how to inspire and motivate them.
  • Have some degree of knowledge of state and federal public policy landscapes.
  • Be self-motivated, always looking for the best way to use your time to accomplish objectives.
  • Be organized, able to keep multiple events and activities on track for yourself and the people you engage to help you.
  • Work well with a team of people, including our staff and activists you engage.
  • Be ready and willing to canvass neighborhoods and make phone calls for our priority initiatives and Action endorsed candidates, as well as motivate and coordinate volunteers to do the same.
  • Have a valid driver's license to be able to travel as needed to meet with people in your area and across the state, as needed.
  • Be able and willing to work a flexible and changing work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
