Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at NavitsPartners. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing coaching, mentoring, and direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and epilepsy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate activities and programs to help members develop and maintain essential skills, such as daily living skills, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Assist and teach members with daily living tasks, including bathing, toileting, dressing, and meal preparation, while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, washing clothes, cleaning dishes, and disinfecting equipment, to maintain a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals as needed, following specialized diet requirements and ensuring the nutritional needs of members are met.
  • Implement the member's Individual Support Plan, including behavior support and therapeutic programs, to promote positive behavior and well-being.
  • Participate in team meetings to develop and review individual support plans for members, ensuring a collaborative and person-centered approach.
  • Administer medications and provide basic health care as needed, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to medical protocols.
  • Encourage and support members in recreational activities both at home and in the community, promoting socialization and community integration.
  • Maintain flexibility in work schedule, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24-hour coverage and support.
  • Must be able to lift/carry at least 50 lbs. and push/pull at least 50 lbs., while maintaining proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No prior experience required, but a willingness to learn and apply physical, occupational, and speech therapy techniques
  • Basic computer skills, including email and timesheet entry
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate using sign language if needed
  • Time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Compassion and respect for others, with a commitment to promoting dignity and autonomy
