The Part-Time Pharmacist will play a crucial role in overseeing and participating in pharmacy operations, primarily focusing on the dispensing of medications, ensuring quality assurance, and engaging in clinical monitoring activities.
This health center offers a wide range of medical services, including primary care for adults and children, treatment for HIV, prevention strategies (PrEP/nPEP), and hormone replacement therapies.
The pharmacy caters to a diverse patient demographic within a community health framework.Key Responsibilities:
Deliver precise pharmaceutical care.
Process physician prescription orders, assessing their appropriateness concerning dosage, medication selection, potential interactions, administration routes, and stability.
Review, interpret, clarify, enter, and confirm patient data and medication orders for processing.Ensure comprehensive patient records are maintained, including allergies, height, weight, medical history, lab results, and current medications (including over-the-counter and home remedies), along with documentation of communications with healthcare providers.
Provide patient education, counseling, and monitoring.Guarantee the safety of patients and staff by adhering to best practices in drug therapy instructions.
Monitor inventory levels to manage stock effectively and minimize waste.Evaluate therapy responses, patient adherence, and conduct ongoing reviews of medication regimens; report and manage any adverse events.
Assist in maintaining compliance with all necessary documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
Support the training and supervision of Pharmacy Technicians, Interns, and other pharmacy staff.
Facilitate educational programs for nursing, medical, and other health center staff regarding drug therapy.
Review and evaluate medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related issues.
Advise prescribers on medication-related concerns and suggest formulary alternatives when necessary.
Stay informed about current market trends, new drug developments, updated clinical care standards, and business strategies that align with organizational growth.
Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
Licensed as a Pharmacist in the relevant state or eligible for licensure within a specified timeframe.
Minimum of two years of experience in clinical pharmacy practice; experience in Specialty Pharmacy is highly desirable.Certification as an HIV Pharmacist or the ability to obtain it within a year of employment is required.
Immunization Administration:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and completion of an approved immunization administration course or certification within a specified timeframe are required.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
Requires critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
Demonstrates knowledge of the 340B pharmacy program, documentation, and compliance.
Exhibits strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficient in pharmacy software, electronic medical records, and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to apply health promotion and disease prevention principles.
Capable of efficiently managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Possesses in-depth knowledge in specialty areas such as HIV treatment, prevention strategies, hormone replacement therapies, and other relevant care provided at the health center.
Additional Requirements:
Must maintain a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must successfully complete background checks and employment eligibility verification as required.
