This role will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate, timely billing, optimizing collections, and minimizing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

As the leader of the Billing Team, you will be responsible for fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. You will partner closely with Operations Leadership to develop and implement strategies that enhance efficiency and accuracy in all billing processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Billing Team, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations and the Billing Team to establish best practices for contract billing, collection efforts, and revenue recognition, ultimately minimizing DSO.
  • Provide expert guidance and support in resolving complex billing and cash application issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all active contracts, including pricing details, change orders, and executed contract amendments.
  • Oversee the central document repository, ensuring compliance with SOX controls and narratives through meticulous record-keeping and documentation.
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures and quality control measures for billing processes, adapting to specific customer requirements.
  • Create cross-training and development plans for team members, fostering individual growth and career advancement within the Billing Team.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to regional offices to support project management efforts as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Accounting, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in the Utilities industry is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a billing environment.
  • 5+ years of comprehensive billing experience, with a strong understanding of GAAP principles, particularly revenue recognition as per ASC 606.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various customer billing portals and moderate Excel skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a commitment to process adherence and accuracy.
