Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Landscape and Grounds Supervisor to join our team at Illuminus. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the exterior of our properties, including landscaping, lawn care, and general outdoor maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote effective communication with all individuals, including residents, staff, and contractors.
  • Ensure a positive image of Illuminus in the community, aligning with our mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide on-call services for snow removal and other assigned tasks.
  • Maintain all campus grounds and properties, adhering to principles of cleanliness, safety, and aesthetics.
  • Perform tasks such as planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, deadheading, pruning, and dividing plants as needed.
  • Prune trees and shrubs in the correct season and manner, monitoring hazardous and dead trees/shrubs and coordinating removal.
  • Install and manage seasonal displays, including flowers, plants, autumn displays, and holiday lighting.
  • Apply herbicides, fertilizers, and other pesticides as needed, removing and treating unwanted vegetation.
  • Maintain campus water features and stormwater systems, keeping detailed records of maintenance and inspections.
  • Maintain turf on all campus grounds, including repair, seeding, aerating, dethatching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, and edging/trimming.
  • Facilitate resident gardening on campus.
  • Provide daily work direction to seasonal grounds employees.
  • Manage, oversee, coordinate, review, and evaluate work performed by contractors and facilities services staff related to snow removal and winter weather response.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, staff, and family members/personal representatives.
  • Abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and complete other assignments as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age, high school degree required or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years' experience with grounds-related equipment, broad knowledge of horticulture or landscape plants, turf maintenance, or any combination thereof.
  • Previous leadership experience (formal or informal) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Commitment to quality programs and services for residents.
  • Excellent communications and human relations skills.
  • Ability to relate well to residents, staff, and family members/personal representatives.
  • Ability to maintain and protect confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions, exhibiting flexibility when needed.
  • Ability to understand and retain instruction, organize, and delegate tasks.
  • Ability to perform minor carpentry, painting, and use of hand and power tools, including routine plumbing repairs and mechanical equipment repairs.
  • Ability to organize and supervise grounds staff, summer interns, volunteers, and outside contractors.
