Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Python programming expertise to create tools and scripts for assessing the performance of photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems.
  • Conduct thorough performance evaluations of solar PV systems and BESS utilizing PVLib and PVsyst software.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to gather and analyze data from solar and battery energy storage projects.
  • Implement effective data management strategies using SQL databases, including ClickHouse OLAP DB and MS SQL Server, to ensure efficient performance data storage and retrieval.
  • Design and maintain dashboards and visualizations with Grafana to monitor and report on the performance metrics of PV and BESS systems.
  • Partner with the data science team to support Python orchestration frameworks for automating data collection, analysis, and reporting workflows.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of performance discrepancies and propose corrective measures to enhance the efficiency of PV and BESS systems.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in PV and BESS technologies and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and external partners regarding PV and BESS performance issues.
  • Document processes, methodologies, and findings related to the performance analysis of PV and BESS systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, focusing on photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage.
  • Experience in the operation, design, and analysis of AC and DC electric power systems.
  • Proficiency in Python programming, with a track record of developing analytical tools and scripts.
  • Strong knowledge of photovoltaic system modeling and simulation, preferably with experience in PVLib and PVsyst.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database management and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Python orchestration frameworks for automating data processing tasks.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to conduct comprehensive performance evaluations of PV and BESS systems.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive approach to learning and staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ClickHouse OLAP or MS SQL Server for data management and analysis is advantageous.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining dashboards and visualizations using Grafana or similar platforms.
  • Certification in photovoltaic system design or performance analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages and software tools relevant to the renewable energy sector.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems and their integration with PV and BESS technologies.

Work Environment:

  • This position primarily operates in an office setting, with occasional tasks conducted at outdoor solar plant sites.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods is required.
