Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is tasked with employing the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation—to deliver personalized nursing care to residents. This role involves collaboration with residents, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues, including healthcare providers, to plan, execute, and assess care. The RN demonstrates proficiency and operates within the full spectrum of nursing expertise, adhering to age and population-specific standards as defined in their clinical setting. Responsibilities include caring for residents across all phases of preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. The RN is accountable for coordinating care, conducting resident assessments, providing education, and performing various nursing interventions.

Additionally, the RN may act as a charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring that these tasks align with job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate. The RN provides necessary support to delegates to guarantee safe and reliable resident care and addresses any care and service concerns. This role operates within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and relevant Administrative Rules.

Qualifications

A graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, including but not limited to, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Must hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing in the practice area and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. The RN is required to obtain and maintain necessary department-specific competencies and certifications.
