Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is tasked with employing the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to deliver tailored nursing care to residents. This role involves collaboration with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, to plan, execute, and assess care. The RN demonstrates proficiency and operates within the full spectrum of nursing expertise, adhering to age and population-specific standards relevant to their clinical environment. Responsibilities encompass all aspects of preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. The RN coordinates care, conducts resident assessments, provides education, and performs various nursing interventions.

The RN may also serve as a charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring alignment with job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence of the delegate. Adequate support and guidance are provided to delegates to ensure safe and reliable resident care and to address any care or service concerns. The RN functions within the established scopes and standards of nursing practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and relevant Administrative Rules.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program, such as those recognized by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Candidates must hold an unencumbered RN license from the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice, or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. It is essential to obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
