About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Technical Assistant to join our team at Selective Insurance. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our underwriting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and process renewal policies, applying knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans, and guidelines to select and price individual risks.
  • Perform initial screenings of renewal previews, gathering and analyzing risk exposure using available resources, and documenting results according to Quality Assurance standards.
  • Assign underwriter renewal accounts based on certain criteria, including premium size and exceptions.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely manner, providing guidance on coverage, billing, and policy adjustments.
  • Analyze and process Workers Compensation bureau notices for all states associated with the Region.
  • Process or assist in the processing of renewal policies, endorsements, and manual policy issuance, including OFAC screening and handling BOR's.
  • Service customer billing inquiries, reconstructing account billing activity and developing payment plans beneficial to the company and client.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-3 years of Commercial Lines experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the usage of all supplied desktop tools, including the automated underwriting system and email.
  • Display confidence and a willingness to take ownership of a request or problem.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to see the big picture while responding to changing conditions.
  • Insurance Institute of America (IIA) Certification preferred.
