Position Summary:

The role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and secure educational atmosphere. The Educational Support Specialist will assist the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging educational and developmental activities. In the absence of the Lead Teacher, this position will take charge of coordinating daily educational tasks in the classroom, adhering to established policies, state regulations, and performance standards. The specialist will provide positive guidance to support the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of young children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate a safe and healthy learning environment that encourages effective exploration and supports children's growth.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher with classroom strategies, outcome development, documentation, lesson planning, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Promote educational and social-emotional development through interaction and example, recognizing each child's unique strengths.
  • Support the implementation of current educational, social, and emotional curricula.
  • Incorporate nutrition and self-care practices into classroom routines to foster healthy habits among children.
  • Build positive relationships with families to encourage their involvement in their child's education.
  • Prepare classroom materials under the Lead Teacher's guidance, ensuring readiness for each session.
  • Assist in conducting educational and behavioral assessments for children within designated time frames.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with staff, supervisors, parents, and service providers.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all matters related to children, families, and staff in accordance with program standards.
Qualifications:

A high school diploma, GED, or HiSet is required. Enrollment in a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential program is necessary, to be completed within 18 months of hire. Candidates must successfully pass the Teaching Strategies Gold Inter-rater Reliability Certification to enter data. Effective communication skills (both written and verbal), a passion for working with young children, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential for success in this role. Completion of training and certification in CPR and First Aid is also required.
