Job Title: Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at the Columbus Consolidated Government. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and directing the construction division, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and preside over design development project meetings to assist with planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Prepare or review contract plans and specifications for selected construction projects.
  • Work with architects and engineers to develop construction plans and specifications.
  • Finalize project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Assist in the selection of architectural and engineering firms.
  • Assist the design team with the selection of building components and mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with other City Departments on various projects.
  • Review and approve commercial plans submitted for site development permits, minor land disturbances, or residential development permits.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to engineers, inspectors, and contractors in the inspection of commercial development projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Building Science, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • One to three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of the accepted principles and practices of civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of flood plain management.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of building construction.
  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of construction design and specification development.
  • Skill in construction project management techniques.
  • Skill in problem solving and decision making.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment, including work-related computer applications.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
