Role Summary:

The Early Childhood Education Program Specialist is responsible for the following key functions:

  1. Managing a grant initiative aimed at supporting the establishment, improvement, or preservation of childcare facilities.
  2. Providing expert guidance on facility operations and business support to entities striving to develop or enhance childcare services for underprivileged children.
  3. Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of grant activities throughout their duration, focusing on initiatives funded by state agencies.

Reporting Structure:

This role reports directly to the Team Leader of the Early Childhood Education Program and collaborates with the broader LIIF team.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Administration for Childcare Programs:

  • Oversee a comprehensive grant program that assists licensed childcare centers and family childcare homes in creating, enhancing, or maintaining childcare spaces.
  • Evaluate applications from childcare programs and conduct site assessments for potential grantees.
  • Maintain a list of eligible grant applicants.
  • Engage with and support child development programs in accessing grant opportunities.
  • Provide facility-related support for capital projects in childcare settings.
  • Monitor grant progress to ensure project completion and financial tracking.

Training and Support for Childcare Providers:

  • Deliver training and technical assistance on various topics, including facility management and business operations, aligned with LIIF's mission of promoting high-quality childcare.
  • Assist childcare providers in securing funding for their operational needs.
  • Create and distribute materials outlining regulatory, planning, and funding requirements for licensed childcare facilities.
  • Develop resources addressing business considerations for the sustainable operation of childcare services.

Collaboration with Community Agencies:

  • Work in partnership with local agencies and nonprofit developers to identify childcare facility needs and potential sites.
  • Collaborate with state departments to facilitate the expansion or renovation of childcare spaces.

Data Management and Impact Assessment:

  • Compile and maintain data on childcare needs and availability, including development pipelines and neighborhood service demands.
  • Track program outcomes and maintain relevant databases.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the Early Childhood Education team.

Required Skills:

  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education, childcare licensing, and government funding regulations.
  • Experience in providing training and technical assistance to childcare providers.
  • Familiarity with planning and building codes relevant to childcare facilities.
  • Interest in facility management and project cost estimation.
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technology and database management.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as early childhood education, business administration, or finance is required.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Strong time management skills and a commitment to LIIF's mission are essential.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for meetings and site visits.
