Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a General Transportation Tech I. This role will be responsible for performing routine transportation operations and maintenance support work, including roadway maintenance and repair, light and heavy equipment operation, and traffic control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports, and posts
  • Perform basic welding as needed
  • Assist in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites
  • Assist stranded motorists as required
  • Assist with traffic control, including placing and gathering cones, warning signs, and barricades
  • Determine placement of traffic control devices and install/move devices
  • Inspect barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards
  • Maintain highways and rights-of-way, including performing roadway repairs, erecting and repairing guard rails, highway markers, and signs
  • Maintain picnic and rest areas, rights-of-way, maintenance yards, and comfort stations
  • Move/pick up litter and roadway debris
  • Mow rights-of-way and picnic and rest areas, and perform plant and landscape maintenance, including trimming trees and brush
  • Operate light equipment, including a front-end loader, pneumatic roller, rotary broom, spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, and mower
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing, and minor repairs on equipment, and complete various required reports
Requirements
  • No education required
  • No experience required
  • Valid driver's license at the time of application
  • Must have a Commercial Class "A" Driver's License with an "N" Endorsement or have obtained a CDL "A" License within 120 calendar days from date of employment
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and hazards. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 pounds. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, hearing, and visual acuity are also required.

Please note that this is a safety impact position and will be subject to random drug testing. The employee must be able to report for duty within 30 minutes of notification on a 24-hour basis to respond to emergency situations.
