We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at the City of Lancaster, TX. As a key member of our Equipment Services & City Facilities department, you will be responsible for repairing and overhauling municipal vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities- Examine vehicles to diagnose damage or malfunction and plan work procedures.
- Raise vehicles to access mechanical units and remove units such as engines, transmissions, and differentials.
- Disassemble units, inspect parts for wear, and repair or replace as needed.
- Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
- Rebuild parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
- Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
- Replace and adjust brakes, align front ends, repair or replace shock absorbers, and solder leaks in radiators.
- Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
- Replace and adjust headlights, and install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
- Oversee emergency equipment installation and operation maintenance on emergency vehicles.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
- A valid Class B (CDL) Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.
