Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for supporting our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks. This includes performing preventative maintenance, resolving breakdowns, and installing and servicing fuel cells at customer sites. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, as well as strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations.
- Performing specialized service procedures, such as field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades.
- Providing on-call and emergency support service to customers as required.
- Purchasing tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support.
- Maintaining ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells.
- Providing regular feedback to regional service representatives regarding fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues.
- Completing administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site and system documentation.
- Exhibiting and enforcing safety procedures in the field or customer sites.
- Travel as required for business needs, with a focus on safe driving practices.
- Representing Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
- Three or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
- Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude is required.
- Computer and software systems skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels.

- Creativity in solving technical problems.
- Ability to work independently.
