About Texas Center for Proton Therapy: The Texas Center for Proton Therapy is committed to offering state-of-the-art proton therapy solutions to cancer patients. Our facility features cutting-edge technology, including pencil-beam scanning for intensity-modulated proton therapy and cone beam CT imaging, ensuring precise tumor targeting. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Physics with medical physics duties related to the operation of the proton therapy clinic.
- Engage in complex PBS treatment plan optimization and assessment, patient immobilization evaluation, and radiation safety protocols.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including therapists, physicians, physicists, and dosimetrists, to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Oversee patient-specific and general quality assurance processes.
- Participate in the acceptance and commissioning of proton therapy equipment as directed.
Essential Duties:
- Operate dosimetric and treatment planning equipment with proficiency.
- Measure and analyze proton radiation data to support clinical services and research.
- Consult with physicians to provide guidance to technical staff during patient treatment planning.
- Develop and implement protocols for proton treatment plans to ensure patient safety and accuracy.
- Conduct regular calibrations and quality control tests for all proton therapy equipment.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and participate in training new staff.
- Engage in research and development projects, including clinical trials.
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree in Physics or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a clinical medical physics residency from a CAMPEP-accredited program or relevant experience in proton radiation physics.
- Current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Radiology.
- Valid Texas state license for medical physics as required.
- Medical Physics Residents who are board-eligible are encouraged to apply.
Physical Demands: Candidates must be able to perform essential functions, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 pounds. Visual acuity to interpret data on computer monitors is necessary.
Work Environment: The role involves working in an office setting with frequent interaction with staff and patients, with potential exposure to clinical conditions.
