NMR Research Lab Specialist

Job Summary:

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a highly skilled NMR Research Lab Specialist to join our team in the Penn Chemistry NMR Facility. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for the optimal maintenance and operation of our NMR spectrometers and helium recovery system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure optimal maintenance and operation of the NMR spectrometers and helium recovery system
  • Support researchers with technical assistance in experimental design, pulse programming, and data analysis
  • Train and supervise facility users (students and postdoctoral researchers)
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the laboratory
Requirements:
  • M.S. in a research area that utilizes NMR spectroscopy with 3-5 years of related experience in a research environment
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining Bruker NMR spectrometers, consoles, and probes
  • Experience with common NMR software used for data collection and analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a research area that utilizes NMR spectroscopy
  • Training and experience in both liquid and solid-state NMR techniques
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of helium recovery systems
  • Some familiarity with instrumentation for EPR spectroscopy
