Job Description

Job Title: Research Specialist B/C

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Specialist B/C to join our team at the Perelman School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out basic laboratory techniques to study the role of microglia and the immune system in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR KO screens in mouse models and iPSC-derived microglia and neurons.
  • Conduct advanced sequencing techniques to measure transcriptomic and epigenetic changes.
  • Perform cellular function assays with live microscopy and flow cytometry and biochemical assays.
  • Maintain mouse colonies and harvest mouse tissues.
  • Assist with human and mouse cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, and sequencing library preparation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree and 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in molecular techniques and cell-based assays, such as flow cytometry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
