Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CDL driver to join our team at Lyman Lumber Company. As a CDL driver, you will be responsible for delivering materials to job sites, primarily wall panels and trusses, while ensuring safe and efficient transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a truck with a capacity of over three tons, safely and efficiently delivering materials to job sites.
  • Inspect and maintain the truck, reporting any issues or shortages to the supervisor.
  • Assist in loading and storing materials, and participate in a positive work environment.
  • Prepare and maintain DOT required logs of time on duty and driving.
  • Organize and secure loads, and assist forklift operators when loading.
  • Check orders for accuracy, and deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction.
  • Complete daily equipment pre-inspections, and record all merchandise returned by truck.
  • Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Relay messages sent by customers while on the job, and assist the supervisor and other employees as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 1 year CDL experience preferred, and less than 1 year basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
  • 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce.
  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
  • Maintain current operator's license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS, and other necessary business applications).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Drill Rig Operator-NCCCO Boom Certification preferred.
  • Class A CDL License required or Class B CDL License required.
