Position Overview:
The Pharmacy Operations Manager is accountable for overseeing the pharmacy's daily functions, including the management of pharmacists and support staff. This role is integral in aligning with the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of Methodist Health System.
Qualifications:
• Must be a graduate from an accredited pharmacy school.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Hospital Pharmacy is preferred.
• Must hold a valid pharmacist license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Certification as a pharmacist preceptor by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required.
• Ideally, 3 to 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide vision and leadership.
• Capable of planning and scheduling the work of others.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with all pharmacy-related state licensure, including but not limited to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and DEA regulations.
• Establish and manage the antimicrobial stewardship program and develop clinical pharmacy services at the facility.
• Provide leadership and accountability for the management and optimization of purchasing and inventory control.
• Assist in the planning, evaluation, and implementation of innovative pharmacy programs for the health system, while establishing and enforcing departmental guidelines.
• Coordinate staffing and training schedules for pharmacists and support staff, ensuring timely processing of schedule requests.
• Conduct and communicate annual evaluations for pharmacists and support personnel.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, offering support for patient care issues and assigned responsibilities.
• Assume the role of a staff pharmacist as needed.
• Take responsibility for pharmacy operations in the absence of the director.
• Oversee drug inventory management, ensuring proper handling, storage, and security of medications.
• Implement appropriate controls for tracking and auditing narcotics.
• Foster clear and open communication.
• Build collaborative relationships within the team.
• Maintain accountability for performance.
• Continuously seek improvements in patient experience.
• Take initiative for personal and professional development.
• Engage actively in building a successful team.
