Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of pharmacy services, ensuring effective management of both pharmacists and support staff. This role is pivotal in aligning with the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of Methodist Health System.

Qualifications:


• Must be a graduate from an accredited pharmacy institution.


• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.


• Must hold a valid pharmacist license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.


• Certification as a pharmacist preceptor by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required.


• Ideally, 3 to 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic vision and leadership.


• Capable of planning and coordinating the work of team members.

Key Responsibilities:


• Ensure compliance with all pharmacy-related state licensure requirements, including those from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and DEA.


• Develop and manage the antimicrobial stewardship program, enhancing clinical pharmacy services.


• Lead the management and optimization of purchasing and inventory control for the pharmacy.


• Collaborate in the planning, assessment, and execution of innovative pharmacy programs within the health system, while establishing and enforcing departmental guidelines.


• Organize and communicate staffing and training schedules for pharmacists and support staff, ensuring timely processing of requests.


• Conduct and relay performance evaluations for pharmacists and support personnel.


• Provide guidance and support to pharmacy staff, addressing patient care and operational challenges.


• Step in as a staff pharmacist when necessary.


• Assume responsibility for pharmacy operations in the absence of the director.


• Oversee medication inventory management, ensuring secure and proper handling of pharmaceuticals.


• Implement tracking and auditing processes for controlled substances.


• Foster clear and open communication within the team.


• Cultivate relationships to encourage a collaborative work environment.


• Maintain accountability for personal performance.


• Continuously seek opportunities to enhance patient experiences.


• Take proactive steps for professional development.


• Engage actively in building a successful team.
