Yard Hostler

The Yard Hostler is a critical role within the GEODIS Group, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of tractor trailers within the yard and surrounding areas. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and execute trailer movements, prioritizing tasks to meet operational deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with Inbound and Outbound Leads to ensure seamless trailer transfer and minimize delays.
- Document and perform trailer moves, ensuring accurate tracking and record-keeping.
- Transport trailers to maintain refrigerated units and perform yard checks to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Verify and report damages, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Assist customers and carriers with instructions and direction while on the yard, providing exceptional customer service.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to company standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CDL preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training in logistics or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules and operating instructions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and varying weather conditions. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, with regular standing, walking, and use of hands to perform job duties.
