Overview:
As a key member of our team at VESTIS, you will engage in essential operations within an industrial laundry environment. Your primary responsibility will be the efficient and safe handling of various textiles as they move through the ironing process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Skillfully stages and feeds a variety of items (such as towels, napkins, tablecloths, and aprons) onto the ironer to minimize wrinkling and tangling.
2. Receives and neatly folds items from the ironer, ensuring quality control by identifying and setting aside any merchandise that does not meet our quality standards due to rips, tears, holes, or stains.
3. Accurately counts and categorizes merchandise by type and bundles them appropriately.
4. Organizes bundles into designated storage carts and efficiently maneuvers both full and empty carts throughout the facility.
5. Maintains a clean and safe working environment, adhering to best practices in all production activities.
6. Performs additional tasks as assigned to support overall operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to comprehend all necessary training materials, as well as written and verbal instructions.
2. Basic mathematical skills for accurate counting and verification.
3. Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
4. Capacity to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
5. Reliability in maintaining an attendance schedule.
Working Environment and Safety Considerations:
This position is situated in a warehouse setting, where you will frequently encounter varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, along with exposure to dust and noise. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Tasks may involve repetitive motions throughout the shift, including bending, reaching, pulling, twisting, and lifting. The role requires the use of hands for grasping and manipulation, as well as standing and walking for extended periods. You will also need to push carts weighing approximately 300 lbs.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
