Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Coding Specialist to join our team at Virginia Jobs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assigning accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes to ensure proper reimbursement and data collection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes based on official inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines.
  • Abstract diagnosis and procedure codes, as well as other required data elements, into our Health System computer program.
  • Attend educational sessions to stay up-to-date on coding guidelines and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC as a RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA, or CPC-H.
Working Conditions

This is a primarily sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and programs.
