Durable Medical Equipment Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator to join our Care Team Department at Giving Home Health Care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing DME requests, ensuring the completion of necessary documentation, and coordinating with internal and external individuals to expedite the authorization and fulfillment process.

This role requires strong communication and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

The ideal candidate will have experience with MS Office products and a strong work ethic, with a patient-first approach and a commitment to collaborative, mission-driven work.

Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with DME vendors to track order and delivery status of requests
  • Collaborating with Patient Coordinators to obtain DME requests
  • Utilizing clinical expertise to research and analyze patient medical records, treatment plans, and assessments
  • Writing clear and concise letters of medical necessity for DME requests
  • Preparing prescriptions and supporting documentation for DME authorization
  • Assisting with solutions for incorrect or broken equipment
  • Learning program policies and procedures, billing processes, and other functions of Giving Home Health Care
  • Developing medical knowledge to effectively engage with healthcare professionals
  • Communicating patient needs with Care Team Specialists
  • Auditing patient information on a regular basis
  • Maintaining accurate records of DME requests
  • Monitoring progress of requests and addressing delays or issues

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic and patient focus
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively
  • Experience with MS Office products
  • Demonstrated success working independently and without close supervision
