FirstEnergy, a leading electric utility company, is seeking an IT Electrical Engineering Intern to support the development and maintenance of our Distribution Management System (DMS). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing the DMS to provide situational awareness of electrical system conditions.

The primary responsibilities of this internship include:

  • Designing and developing configurations for Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to facilitate monitoring and control of substations and line devices.
  • Assisting with administration, maintenance, and upgrades to the software.
  • Managing, testing, and checking out SCADA and changes in the development, quality assurance, simulator, and production environments.
  • Supporting Distribution system operators and engineers in the use of the DMS.
  • Developing and communicating system documentation, version release notes, and training material.

To be eligible for this internship, you must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college with a major in Electrical Engineering. You should also have a strong understanding of Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and be able to work remotely using virtual technologies.
