GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Responsible for ensuring that county facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and inviting condition for both staff and the public.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates various electrical cleaning devices, including vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.

• Utilizes cleaning agents and chemicals safely and effectively, adhering to safety protocols to protect personal and public health.

• Ensures that facilities are secured and accessible as per the established schedule.

• Conducts a variety of cleaning tasks such as emptying waste bins, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors, washing windows, and sanitizing restrooms.

• Responds promptly to urgent cleaning needs, including spills and maintenance issues.

• Moves furniture and equipment as required for cleaning and maintenance tasks.

• Maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas and performs routine upkeep on cleaning equipment.

• Monitors inventory levels of cleaning supplies and places orders as necessary.

• Assists with general maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and refilling dispensers.

• Aids in training new custodial staff as needed.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred, along with six months of custodial experience in a commercial setting or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Licenses: Must possess a valid driver’s license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements: Ability to operate various cleaning equipment and tools, lift and move heavy objects, and perform tasks requiring physical stamina and mobility.

Language Skills: Proficient in English communication, both oral and written, with the ability to follow instructions and comprehend safety information.

Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to interact effectively with the public and coworkers.
