As a Commercial Vehicle Operator Trainee, you will receive comprehensive training from seasoned professionals, preparing you to become a skilled and safe commercial driver while obtaining your Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Upon successful completion of your training, you will join our dedicated team, with potential for advancement across various Waste Connections locations nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in both classroom instruction and practical training to gain knowledge of commercial driving regulations, vehicle operation, safety protocols, and company guidelines.
  • Accompany experienced drivers to observe and learn effective practices in vehicle handling, navigation, and customer service.
  • Assist with pre-trip inspections, vehicle upkeep, and loading/unloading tasks as necessary.
  • Follow directives from trainers and supervisors to cultivate essential driving abilities, including maneuvering, reversing, and defensive driving techniques.
  • Complete assigned training modules, assessments, and evaluations to monitor progress and readiness for CDL examination.
  • Maintain precise records of training activities, hours logged, and performance assessments.
  • Comply with all traffic laws, safety standards, and company policies consistently.
  • Communicate effectively with trainers, supervisors, and team members to address inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Strong communication skills and capacity to follow instructions.
  • Commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Capability to lift and transport heavy items, as necessary.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
