Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Balance Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will work alongside physicians to provide patient care, taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with in-office procedures. This role is full-time and based in our Los Gatos, California office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients on the phone and in person, escorting them to exam rooms and taking vital signs as needed.
  • Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures, maintaining accurate patient files and ensuring rooms are properly stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Apply dressings, bandages, and splints as ordered by providers, maintaining a sanitized and safe working environment.
  • Coordinate services between multiple practices, demonstrating excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Schedule appointments, communicate clearly on the phone, and accurately document and assign messages.
  • Confirm and update contact information for all patients at every contact, making follow-up calls for any messages left on the office answering machine.
  • Document appointment visit status, including rescheduled, cancelled, confirmed, left voice message, or any other status as appropriate.
  • May assist with front office responsibilities as needed, performing other medical assistant duties as necessary.

MRI Tech Responsibilities:

  • Train to become fully capable of solo operation of magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Good knowledge of human anatomy and computer software knowledge, experience working with CT scan and MRI scan, going through scans and following instructions.
  • 100% onsite role in Los Gatos, CA, day shift Monday to Friday, working on segmentation, interpretation of MRI and CT scan images.
  • Human biology background that can identify anatomy from CT/other scans, review CT/MRI scans, identify and draw anatomy parts using software to make 3D models.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant, MA certification with current registration number as a CMA, and high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Desire/initiative to train as an MRI Tech provided by the company, approximately 3 weeks for initial training with one week in Chicago and additional 1-2 weeks at Los Gatos with a trainer.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision, responding appropriately to emergencies.
  • Adapts to advancement and changing technology, ability to show attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Experience working in an outpatient practice, able to coordinate services, assist patients within the office, with medications and procedure authorizations, and effectively explain processes to patients.
  • Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR, excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment, works well independently as needed, properly prioritizing tasks while also thriving in a team environment with commitment to be collaborative.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of diligence ensuring accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks, respectfully accepts coaching and guidance provided constructively to ensure continual improvement, career growth, and development.
  • Understands additional tasks may be assigned to meet business needs, PC proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, other accounting applications/software.
  • Ability to travel for training outside of California for one week, legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to successfully pass an in-depth background investigation, including a clean DMV report and pre-employment drug screen.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current registration number as a CMA
  • CPR certification
  • Maintaining registration as a MR Technologist by the A.R.R.T. or ARMRIT following company-provided training

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Full-time position Monday – Friday with a competitive pay range of $24 - $30* per hour depending on actual, relevant work experience. *Note: A pay increase will occur once MRI Tech certified and solo for a minimum period of 30 days (effective on the next or current pay period depending on the actual timing).
  • Eligible to participate in company benefit program on the first of the month following 30 days of employment if a 30-hour work week is consistently maintained.
  • Eligible to participate in our 401(k) program with company match on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
