A dedicated organization focused on advancing the independence and full citizenship of people with disabilities is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse.
The organization aims to provide life skills training, education, and advocacy for individuals with a wide range of disabilities.
Job Summary:A Registered Nurse is required to work with an adult population in a 31-bed facility. Excellent communication skills are necessary for this role.
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Work Schedule: 7:00am-3:00pm
Location: New York
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and assist in the overall health and safety of the individuals served.
• Supervise and train direct care staff regarding medication administration, universal precautions, infection control, and health and safety issues.
• Complete yearly recertification, including practicum, for each medication certified person.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physician.
• Generate incident, seizure, and illness reports.
• Monitor and report health care on daily flow report records.
• Instruct direct support professionals in hygiene, diet, weights, and other essential skills.
• Submit written monthly, quarterly, and annual nursing/medical progress notes.
Implement guidance policies to address medication errors or violations of health and safety procedures by direct care staff.
Ensure maintenance and review of all medical records per state and federal guidelines and UCP policy.Ensure all indicated and annual medical appointments and lab work are scheduled and followed-up appropriately and as per UCP policy.
Monitor and review medication administration records, recording of medications, medication orders, labels, and other essential documents.
Ensure an adequate supply of medication and medical goods and equipment, as well as first aid supplies.
Complete all paperwork as assigned by the director of Residential Services or designee, and according to UCP policy.
Document medical and pharmacological services and issues.
Ensure pharmacy review of medication every 90 days.
Ensure individuals are living in a safe and hygienic manner.
Requirements:
• Experience working with a developmentally disabled population is preferred.
• Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Nurse is required.
