POSITION PURPOSE:

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will oversee all maintenance operations, ensuring optimal productivity and economic efficiency at the facility.

This role is responsible for managing daily maintenance activities, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The supervisor will guide maintenance staff in executing safe and effective maintenance practices, coordinate and schedule mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance tasks, and maintain the facility's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The supervisor will lead and plan both minor and major maintenance outages with support from other personnel, ensuring that maintenance procedures are consistently reviewed, updated, and followed. It is also essential to keep the maintenance team current with their training and qualifications, collaborating with operations to prioritize workload effectively.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safe and quality maintenance of all equipment, buildings, and grounds in accordance with established procedures.

Take corrective actions as necessary, following established protocols and industry best practices.

Direct maintenance personnel in inspecting and repairing equipment while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Verify timely completion of work orders and determine maintenance needs through preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Review and prioritize maintenance work orders to establish job steps, estimate labor hours, and specify required parts and equipment, including recommended inventory.


Conduct regular inspections of the facility to assess equipment condition, provide guidance and feedback to staff, and ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.

Assist in troubleshooting activities as needed.

Supervise and enhance the skill development, training, and safety programs for maintenance personnel. Ensure a sufficient number of trained staff are available to maintain operations under various conditions.

Mentor maintenance staff, preparing them for increased responsibilities and career advancement. Foster morale and motivation among team members while addressing any concerns that arise.

Assist in the recruitment and hiring process for maintenance personnel.

Develop and manage contracts and scopes of work for external contractors to maximize efficiency.

Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance outages and overhauls as required.

Conduct regular safety meetings (at least monthly) and address safety concerns in all group meetings.


Respond to safety-related incidents, including injuries and near misses; prepare reports detailing incidents, identifying causes, and recommending corrective actions according to established practices.

Follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented. Maintain up-to-date maintenance manuals and ensure policies and procedures are current.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical demands may include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.

Protective equipment may be required for certain tasks (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, etc.).

Work with hazardous materials may be necessary.


This position may require extended hours and varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on workload and project requirements.

"On-call" status may be necessary periodically.
