Overview:

This position is part-time, typically requiring an average of 3 days per week. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver clinical assistance within a vascular medical practice. The Vascular Surgical Assistant will work closely with clinical leadership to ensure effective execution of clinical and patient care responsibilities, always operating within the established scope of practice under the supervision of the attending surgeon and nursing staff.

This role will report operationally to the Office Manager and clinically to the clinical leadership team.

This position is classified as non-exempt.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in Procedure Rooms:
    • Prepare surgical packs, supplies, and instruments for procedures.
    • Set up procedure rooms for surgical cases.
    • Ensure maintenance of a sterile environment.
    • Assist with inventory management for procedure rooms.
    • Provide technical support to physicians and nursing staff.
  • Assist with Daily Clinic Operations:
    • Manage incoming office calls, ensuring timely responses to patient inquiries.
    • Help schedule patient appointments and confirm future visits.
    • Facilitate patient referrals and secure insurance authorizations for procedures.
    • Maintain accurate patient medical records, including health history and insurance details.
    • Oversee the ordering and stocking of medical supplies.
    • Conduct cleaning and sterilization of medical equipment.
  • Prepare Examination Rooms:
    Assist physicians and other clinical personnel as required.
  • Compliance:
    Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain compliance databases.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a surgical technician or completion of an accredited program within the last 6 months.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a surgical setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
