About the Role

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Outpatient Surgical Technologist to join our team in Wellesley, Massachusetts. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in providing intraoperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

This is a 40-hour per week, ongoing position with a focus on patient progression goals, quality initiatives, and achieving the highest level of patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and collaborate with the circulating nurse to set up for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
  • Pass instruments and retract for the surgeon at the sterile field as directed.
  • Anticipate needs of the surgical team during the procedure and provide them with proper instruments, equipment, and supplies to meet these needs.
  • Collaborate with the Circulating nurse to insure the accuracy of all sponge, sharps, and instrument counts per established policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience required.
  • ST certification required in accordance with Massachusetts State Law.
Work Environment

The Surgical Technologist works in a variety of patient care environments where there may be exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials such as chemotherapeutic agents, radioisotopes, and radiation.

Caring for patients also involves exposure to human waste and other unpleasant elements. Other duties may include general cleaning with exposure to dirt, dust, odors, cramped quarters, etc.
