Job Description for Warehouse Operations Manager

The Warehouse Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse facilities at The Furniture Warehouse. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of warehouse staff, maintaining a highly productive and efficient receiving and inventory control operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management: Maintain a working knowledge of company products and policies, ensuring accurate inventory levels and transactions.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide management coverage of the warehouse, including opening and closing procedures, and lead by example to build a motivating, cooperative, and rewarding work environment.
  • Training and Development: Train, guide, and develop staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
  • Performance Management: Hold staff accountable for performance objectives and recommend performance improvements as necessary.
  • Inventory Integrity: Maintain inventory integrity within our system by ensuring all inventory transactions are accurately recorded and accounted for.
  • Physical Inventory Counts: Conduct regular physical counts to reconcile with data storage system and ensure accuracy.
  • Receiving and Inspection: Oversee the unloading of incoming shipments, inspect and count all items, and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
  • Inventory Rotation and Analysis: Monitor stock rotation and products, analyze inventory issues, and implement solutions to optimize inventory levels.
  • Distribution and Transportation: Oversee day-to-day distribution and transportation operations, including routing trucks and preparing reports for delivery and warehouse errors.
  • Transfer and Removal: Maintain a transfer schedule of new inventory to be sent to sales floors and timely removal of sold merchandise from sales floors.
  • Quality Control and Safety: Direct technicians with daily work flow, assist in scheduling service or exchanges, and review quality of work completed, ensuring compliance with OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Security and Safety: Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by ensuring established security and safety procedures and protocols are followed and reviewed regularly.
  • Facility Maintenance: Assist in keeping the inside and outside warehouse surroundings free of debris on a daily basis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years of management experience in a warehouse facility
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent inventory skills
  • Ability to operate a stand-up forklift and obtain fork lift certification
  • Ability to use RF unit
  • Ability to move and lift heavy objects weighing pounds
  • Capable of constantly squatting, bending, pulling, and pushing
  • Able to stand in one spot for a long period of time
  • Ability to work in cooler and warmer temperature zones
  • Must wear work boots or steel-toed shoes
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and a positive team player
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean record
