Job Overview

The Construction Foreperson is responsible for overseeing crew members, managing equipment, and ensuring that all tasks are executed in accordance with project specifications. Candidates must possess prior experience in a supervisory role and hold a valid Class A CDL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote safety regulations and protocols at all times.
  • Lead daily operations by directing crew members and managing equipment usage.
  • Delegate specific tasks to crew members while monitoring their performance.
  • Plan and implement work assignments efficiently and safely.
  • Coordinate with property owners regarding access and work to be performed.
  • Ensure that all crew members utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform tree trimming and removal using various tools and equipment, ensuring safe handling of materials.
  • Apply herbicides to stumps and brush as necessary to prevent regrowth.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of trucks with materials and debris.
  • Organize breaks and meal times for crew members.
  • Oversee site cleanup and secure all tools and equipment post-job.
  • Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and equipment used.
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles and equipment, and lead job briefings as required.
  • Restock supplies and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Assess emergency situations and take appropriate action to mitigate hazards.
  • Assist with storm response efforts as needed.

Supervisory Duties

The Foreperson does not have direct reports but is responsible for guiding crew members in preparing for daily tasks.

Experience Requirements

Preferred background in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military sectors.

Education Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to meet and demonstrate qualifications for all crew positions.
  • Capable of following both verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficient in delegating tasks and holding crew accountable for their performance.
  • Understanding of technical drawings and symbols related to electrical lines and equipment.
  • Adaptable to field conditions and able to act independently without close supervision.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and capability to operate a company vehicle safely.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain first-aid and CPR certifications.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
  • Physical endurance to perform duties throughout an extended workday.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining necessary tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel for storm restoration efforts when required.
