Job Summary:

As an Optical Laboratory Technician I at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in assisting experienced technicians in producing and providing eyewear to our members in a timely and efficient manner. This entry-level position offers opportunities for growth and development, with a focus on gaining proficiency in various tasks and skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the production of eyewear, including tasks such as deboxing, verification, taping, blocking, and deblocking.
  • Support other lab personnel in duties as directed, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Clean and maintain the optical lab and equipment, adhering to departmental policies and guidelines.
  • Develop skills in assigned department, with the goal of gaining proficiency in a minimum of 8 different tasks to qualify for promotion to Lab Tech II.
Requirements:
  • No prior experience required, making this an excellent opportunity for those new to the field.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, visual acuity, and color perception are essential for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for success in this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of optical lab experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Basic optical knowledge and familiarity with departmental and Kaiser Permanente organizational safety rules and standards are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of optical surfacing equipment, finishing equipment, or optical lab software is a plus.
Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a variable schedule, working 40 hours per week. The work environment is on-site at the Regional Supply Center in Clackamas, Oregon.
