Position Overview

The Ohio Society of Association Executives is in search of a Membership Engagement and Events Specialist. This role will report directly to the Executive Director and will be instrumental in crafting and executing strategies aimed at enhancing membership growth and retention in alignment with the organization's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Development (35%)

  • Formulates strategies to attract, retain, and engage members to achieve membership objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director to set both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Creates a data-driven approach for growth, engagement, recruitment, and retention.
  • Manages the membership database, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Oversees member invoicing processes to ensure timely payments and follow-ups.
  • Welcomes new members with a comprehensive orientation packet.
  • Partners with the marketing team to develop and implement member-focused marketing initiatives.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of membership campaigns to inform future strategies.
  • Explores additional member benefits and communicates these effectively to the membership.
  • Engages new affiliate members and collaborates with the marketing team to maximize their involvement.

Event Planning (25%)

  • Designs and executes an annual calendar of events, including continuing education sessions, regional gatherings, webinars, and the annual convention.
  • Works closely with the Executive Director and board members to identify a diverse range of speakers and topics relevant to the profession.
  • Plans and manages special events, including venue selection, speaker arrangements, and promotional activities in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Monitors the return on investment (ROI) of special events to guide future planning.
  • Administers continuing education credits in the membership database for relevant events.
  • Maintains the webinar system and ensures webinars are uploaded appropriately.

Member Support (20%)

  • Assists members with inquiries and directs them to the appropriate association staff as needed.
  • Supports Board Members in distributing monthly newsletters and recording continuing education hours for meetings.
  • Responds to inquiries submitted through the contact forms and directs them to the relevant staff member.

Reporting and Analysis (10%)

  • Monitors and communicates membership trends.
  • Provides quarterly reports on membership metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication, or a related field.
  • At least 18 months of professional experience.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, with a knack for anticipating needs and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Experience in membership growth or sales.
  • Familiarity with database management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Background in event planning.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated to drive initiatives and complete tasks.
  • Willingness to travel for professional conferences and membership activities.
