Animal Care Specialist

Job Summary:
Ruff Start Rescue is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Relief Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will provide top-notch care to rescue animals, working closely with our DVM to ensure they receive the best possible treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and examine incoming surgical patients to determine their suitability for surgery.
- Perform medical and surgical procedures with precision and care, ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as UA's, fecal, cytology, and skin scrapes to determine the health and condition of our animals.
- Assist in all aspects of surgical sterilization and medical care, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible treatment.
- Enter required data into medical records accurately and efficiently, whether paper or computer-based.
- Help with setup, check-in, recovery, checkout, and cleaning, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is preferred, as is experience in high-volume spay and neuter programs.
- At least one year of anesthetic and surgical experience is required.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs and be physically able to perform tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration with our team.
