We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our team at Mountain View School District. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of our early childhood students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Instructional Personnel: Collaborate with teachers to prepare learning materials and conduct instructional activities that promote student engagement and academic growth.
- Support Student Development: Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning concepts, monitor progress, and provide feedback.
- Monitor and Assist with Daily Activities: Assist students with feeding, toileting, and self-help skills, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.
- Implement Positive Behavioral Strategies: Direct students into safe learning activities, promote social skills, and manage behavior using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Prepare Instructional Materials: Assist in preparing a variety of instructional materials, learning aids, and visual aids to support student learning.
- Maintain Records and Files: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including observation notes and other relevant information.
- Operate Educational Equipment: Operate various instructional media machines and equipment to support student learning.
- Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in child growth and development, instructional technology, or a closely related field. One year of paid or volunteer experience working with early childhood children, preferably in a Head Start or Child Care setting.
- Knowledge and Skills: Basic concepts of child growth and development, student behavior management strategies, and English language proficiency. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and maintain a positive attitude towards children.
- Physical Demands: Exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sit, stand, or walk for brief periods, and perform manual dexterity tasks.
This position requires working in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The successful candidate must be able to maintain a professional demeanor, work collaboratively, and adapt to changing circumstances.
