Johnson Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Cook to join our Food and Nutrition Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for hospital patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Menu Planning and Preparation: Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to be prepared by reviewing planned menus.
- Food Ordering and Inventory Management: Determine amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit orders to the Food and Nutrition Services Manager.
- Meal Service and Delivery: Ensure meals are ready at specified times and deliver patient food carts to nursing stations.
- Food Safety and Quality Control: Consult with the Food and Nutrition Services Manager regarding the use of leftovers and consult with the Registered Dietitian on modified diets as necessary.
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Supervise Food and Nutrition Services workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food.
- Culinary Skills: Measure and mix ingredients according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
- Food Presentation and Service: Carve meat, fish, and fowl into individual servings according to menu combinations and patient diet orders.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain the kitchen in a clean, neat, and organized manner and perform special cleaning duties as assigned by the Food and Nutrition Services Manager.
- Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent and one year of experience in food preparation, preferably in a hospital environment.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages are preferred.
- Physical Demands: Normal hospital environment with occasional exposure to steam and refrigerators. Normal/corrected eyesight and hearing within normal range.
