Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician II to join our team at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Histotech Coordinator and the Pathologist, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication. Key responsibilities include assembling supplies and equipment, maintaining a clean work environment, and preparing and keeping records and reports for the Pathology Department.

Regulatory and Education Requirements:

  • A successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program, or an Associate Degree, or 60 semester hours college credit including 6 hours in Chemistry, 6 hours in Biology, and 1 year of acceptable experience under an ASCP Pathologist and HT (ASCP) or HLT (ASCP) is preferred with a minimum of Registry eligible.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of previous experience as a Histotechnician (ASCP) or Histotechnician eligible, with a strong emphasis on attendance and punctuality.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in typing at no less than 40 words per minute.
  • Strong word processing and computer skills.
  • Excellent clerical and secretarial skills.
  • Medical terminology required.
