Job Summary:

The Maricopa Community College District is seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist Supervisor to oversee the preparation of equipment and materials for lecture and laboratory experiments in the physical sciences. This role will supervise and train staff, develop and implement laboratory safety procedures, and promote science education for the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist faculty in designing, piloting, and troubleshooting physical science labs
• Supervise science lab technicians and student workers
• Maintain budget, stock room, prep room, inventory, and order materials as needed
• Help break down labs and clean labs and equipment

Requirements:

• Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience
• Four years of directly related full-time experience, including two years of lead work or senior level experience
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocols
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Experience working in an academic laboratory setting
• Knowledge of or ability to help pilot science laboratories for college-level classes

Working Conditions:

Exposure to chemicals and organisms that may present hazards if not handled properly. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires flexible work schedule in coordination with the student semester and class schedules.
