About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our team at Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. in Knoxville, TN. As a key member of our team, you will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directing multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality results
  • Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies to inform project decisions
  • Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for urban environments
  • Applying advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software to simulate complex systems
  • Floodplain mapping and flood protection design to ensure public safety
  • In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling to protect aquatic ecosystems
  • Field investigations and construction support services to ensure project success
  • Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Preparing erosion and sediment control designs to mitigate environmental impacts
  • Interacting with client representatives to understand project needs and deliver results
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments
  • Supporting business development, staff development, and mentoring to drive business growth
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, with emphasis on water resources or a closely related discipline
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering, with emphasis on water resources or a closely related discipline (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) and certifications such as CPESC, CPSWG (preferred)
  • At least 7 years of research or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS (preferred)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
