Job Summary

The Assistant Region Foreman is a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing maintenance and construction projects across the region. This role requires a strong background in building, construction, or grounds/landscape maintenance, with a focus on supervising and coordinating work in the absence of or directed by the Region Foreman.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and string trimmers, while ensuring preventive maintenance is completed.
  • Perform all aspects of landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, mulching, hazard tree removal, and trash pick-up and disposal.
  • Supervise and coordinate subordinates, including community service and volunteers, in specific maintenance and construction projects as directed by the Region Foreman.
  • Train staff in the efficient and safe operation of equipment and ensure that supplies required for daily operations and projects are available.
  • Make recommendations to the Region Foreman concerning projects, equipment, and budget items.
  • Perform snow removal duties and all aspects of building maintenance, including cleaning restrooms, offices, and rental facilities.
  • Routinely drive County vehicles and assist in the preventative and routine maintenance of such vehicles.
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in building, construction, or grounds/landscape maintenance and associated equipment, including specialized trade skills.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; two (2) years of college or technical school preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must project a pleasant and professional presence when interacting with the public.
  • Must have the ability to work in public areas in a safe manner.
  • Ability to provide clear directions and communicate effectively, including basic computer skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License, a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to maintain one throughout employment.
Work Environment

This position will be in the field, with occasional exposure to chemicals, hazardous vegetation, and other hazards. The Assistant Region Foreman may experience exposure to inclement weather, extreme heat, cold, snow, ice, and rain. The position requires working weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed, and being available for emergencies outside of normal working hours.
